Half Pipe Coil Heat Exchange System

Half pipe is the name given to a vessel heat exchange system whereby a semicircular profile is attached to the outer surface of the vessel.  In actual fact the term "half pipe" is misleading as it gives the impression that the material has been formed by cutting pipe in half longitudinally and then rolling it to match the outer diameter of the tank.  Furphy half pipe is formed by roll forming a semi circular profile whilst at the same time rolling the profile to the diameter of the vessel.  Once tacked in place a single submerged arc weld run joins the coils together and to the vessel wall.
