Design/Pressure Vessel - Engineer
You will be the focal point for engineering design issues and will play a significant role in developing the engineering skills of the engineering team as well as supervising other engineers within the company.
Tank and vessel projects undertaken by Furphy Engineering cover a diverse range of industries such as chemical, dairy, food, brewing, wine, pulp & paper and pharmaceutical.
- Detailed design of pressure vessels and thin walled atmospheric tanks constructed from carbon steel and stainless steel.
- Detailed design of associated support structures and attachments.
- Verification of pressure vessels and associated support structures.
- Liaising with our clients and with internal project managers, estimators and production staff to match design to project requirements.
- Ensuring designs conform to relevant standards.
- Co-ordinating with relevant statutory authorities for the notification and registration of pressure vessels.
- Monitoring of manufacturing processes to ensure procedures and relevant codes / standards are adhered to.
- A sound working knowledge of pressure vessel and atmospheric tank design codes / standards.
- A sound working knowledge of welding codes / standards associated with pressure vessels and atmospheric tanks.
- Experience with fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis software.
- Worked on or been associated with pressure vessel and atmospheric tank manufacture.
- Excellent communication skills are required as you liaise between clients, suppliers, internal project managers and production staff.
- Bachelor of Mechanical or Structural Engineering.
- 10 to 15 years experience, with a minimum of 5 years experience in the design of pressure vessels and atmospheric tanks.

Preparation of detailed workshop drawings for multifaceted, versatile metal
fabrication workshop.
Requirements:
- Experience (min 3 years) using AutoCAD 2002 or later in a work environment
- Sound understanding of metal fabrication
- Experience in sheet metal development

- An ability to assist in design
